Hi my name is Phil Irvine and I’m the Pastor at Emu Plains Community Baptist Church. My family and I moved all the way from the Blue Mountains and to live in the community here in Emu Plains. Jesus said “I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full.” Sometimes we find that our lives are so full with things to do, but we don’t seem to be fulfilled. I enjoy running, spending time with my family, playing Xbox and a good coffee. But what fills my life is Jesus. If you are wanting your life full, the best it can be, why not check out Jesus and take him up on this promise?

This parable that Jesus tells is known as the Prodigal Son. As we consider this parable, I want our focus not to be on the son, but rather on the Father. We could call this parable, the Faithful Father. God is obviously the Father in this story and we see him; PROVIDING for his children, being PATIENT with his son and having a POSITIVE influence on his son's life.

In this passage, Paul is saying that we must be caring for those in the faith, but here he gives a warning about how we accept and judge others. The key verse in v.8 is "If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord". First and foremost, we belong to Jesus and it is to Him that we will have to give an account.

Everyone needs salvation because we have all sinned.
▪ The price (or consequence) of sin is death.

▪ We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
▪ Salvation through Jesus brings us into a relationship of peace with God.

In Chapter 10, Paul talks about the responsibility of every person to respond to the good news about Jesus who is the only way of salvation. Once you have found salvation in Jesus, you then have the responsibility of sharing that good news with others.
