In this passage, the people of Israel are doubting God's love for them. In v.2 they ask God, "How have you loved us?" God answers them in 3 ways: Firstly, God simply states, "I have loved you". Secondly, God reminds them that He has chosen them, and thirdly, God has blessed them.
