The Merciful

As we have been going through the Beatitudes, we have seen how they build on each other. First, we need to recognise that we are poor in spirit. The next step is to have the right attitude toward our sins, we grieve and mourn. When we have a right attitude toward God and His Word, we humble ourselves and become meek. This creates a deep desire for God’s righteousness, which He gives us when we trust Jesus, by faith. Then, having received His righteousness, we begin to be like God and become merciful in the way we act towards others.
