Passage: Luke 2:41-52
Series: Luke
Duration: 33 mins 16 secs
In this passage, we get the see one of the great mysteries of the Bible, Jesus is fully God and fully Man. Even though He is the God who became flesh and dwells with us (John 1:14), He is a human like us, yet without sin (Heb. 4:15). Jesus had to grow in wisdom and stature and so do we.

Passage: Luke 1:1-4
Series: Luke
Duration: 29 mins 27 secs
As we start to look at the Gospel of Luke, he makes it really clear why he is writing to Theophilus and to us. "so that you may KNOW the certainty of the things you have been taught." The Gospels show us who Jesus is and what He came to do. As we study this Gospel together over the next few months, I pray that we would be reminded again and again about the certainty of what we have been taught.

When we face difficult times in our lives, we can always rely on Jesus to meet our needs during these times, which is often met through the support and care of others. Jesus is always there for us. We can leave all our concerns and anxieties with Jesus and trust our lives to Him.

Obedience based on trust and discipline are two key aspects of what it means to live as Jesus’ disciples. Jesus expects obedience to His commands, God disciplines us as the children that He loves and it is the Holy Spirit who enables us to follow Jesus’ example. Having child-like faith means that we instinctively trust and obey God because of our relationship with Him. We should raise our children similarly, and when our parenting differs from the world around us, God’s timeless Word is to be our ultimate source of truth.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth. We are not told how God created all things, but rather He alone created order in the universe - which is a very very big place! In creating man in God's image, the outward appearance of man was suitable for reflecting the invisible glory of God. Man possessed the moral capacity to live under the law, however, we know that sin entered the world through the disobedience of Adam and Eve. God is knowable and all the world will know Him when he returns.

Passage: 1 John 4:7-12
Duration: 16 mins 9 secs
God first loved us and showed His love by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have a relationship with Him. Do you know Christ because he lives in you, or do you only know about Christ? As Christians, we are to love one another because of the love of God in us. Show God's love as you share with others this Christmas.

Passage: 1 Peter 1:3-9
Duration: 22 mins 4 secs
In the Christmas story, the Angel said, "I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people". The Christian life should be one that is marked with JOY. It is one of the fruits of the Spirit, Paul often prayed with JOY for the churches and James tells us to consider it pure JOY when we face trials. Peter gives us the answer to how we get this JOY in our lives and just as in the Christmas story, it is found in Jesus.

Passage: Luke 2:1-15
Duration: 22 mins 48 secs
The early part of this passage shows there was no peace for Israel, Joseph, Mary or the Shepherds with everything that was happening for them at the time. Where do you find peace in the busyness of life? Don't look for it in the world, but look for it in Jesus, for He has overcome the world and it is only in Him that you will find true peace.

As we think about Christmas, four words stand out: Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. Leading up to Christmas we are going to spend time looking at these words and what they mean for us today. We start with HOPE. In Hebrews, we are told that HOPE is like an anchor for our souls. This anchor is not grounded in the crust of the earth but fixed in heaven where Jesus our high priest is. HOPE is always found in Jesus and not in ourselves.

Jesus is saying in this passage that we can be hypocritical, not only in what we say, but in our hearing as well, which does not line up with what we do. We will face storms in our lives and it is at these times that our foundation of faith in Jesus is tested. Our relationship with Jesus needs to be on a firm foundation and not on one that gives way easily when things get tough.
