A series based on Israel's experience in the book of Exodus. There are three phases in coming to terms with change: 'ending' - letting go of the old identity, the 'neutral' transition stage when old behaviours die out, and 'beginning' - emerging with a new sense of purpose. We can't go back, but we must learn the lessons from our journey so far and cross into the wilderness, leaving behind or drowning what would hold us back. God then keeps us in the neutral zone long enough for us to be changed by the wilderness experience. The desert is where things are stripped bare and we are forced to face matters. We can move through quicker with an attitude of openness to God. We need cohesion, but there is also opportunity for creativity and innovation. We need to transform old attitudes that won't sustain us in the new land and look forward to what is needed so when we arrive we'll be ready.
